Children’s Museum Premieres First PBS “Martha Speaks” Episode With Red Carpet Walk
The first episode of PBS’ “Martha Speaks” premieres on Labor Day, Sept. 1, at the Children’s Museum of Houston. The red carpet walk will take place at 10:15 a.m. with show times at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. at the museum, 1500 Binz.
Based on the best-selling book series, “Martha Speaks” is about a curious dog named Martha who starts to speak after eating a bowl of alphabet soup. Her newfound ability, combined with her imagination, sends Martha through a series of adventures. This educational show is designed to improve children’s vocabulary.
Museum visitors can enter a drawing to receive a copy of a “Martha Speaks” book signed by author Susan Meddaugh. Children can make alphabet soup by fishing for letters and forming words, there will be story time at the library and children can sign up for a Houston Public Library Power Card. Martha will also make a special appearance.
General admission is $5 per person and $4 for seniors 65+. Free entrance for children under two and museum members. HoustonPBS Members receive up to three free admissions for this event.
