Challenger Basketball Starts 2013 Season at St. Agnes Academy

Challenger Basketball tipped off the 2013 season at St. Agnes Academy with co-hosts Episcopal High School on Jan. 12.

Sports announcer Coach Valencia Dunn welcomed everyone and Sister Jane Meyer, who was recently recognized as one of Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women, gave the invocation.

CJ Emcarnacion sang the National Anthem then the Challengers took to the court for a day of hoops.

SAA Head Coach Jeff Hollinger, Coach Kareema Williams, Coach Jill Constanza, and AD Amy Mattes plus EHS Head Coach Al Bradshaw, Dean Colello and Mike Donnelly were on hand to help plan and make the day a one to remember always.

Miss Harris County Niki Noblett, Strake Jesuit Cheerleaders, Athletes Taking Action, National Honor Society, and National Charity League volunteers helped things run smoothly. The SAA Booster Club hosted a post-game pizza lunch and sponsored T-shirts for the varsity players and all of the Challengers.

Next week’s game will be at Strake Jesuit, with St. Thomas High School as co-host.
