Car Chase Ends As Driver Crashes Through Residential Fence
A 20-year-old driver led police on a short chase that ended as the man crashed into a fenced yard in the 4100 bock of Merrick around 3:50 this morning.
The incident is still under investigation, but preliminary reports indicate that Blaine Hinds Weaver was clocked at 56 mph. in the 4400 block of Bellaire Boulevard by a Bellaire police officer early this morning. West University police responded to Bellaire’s report that there was a vehicle refusing to stop. When WUPD arrived at the 6800 block of Academy, Bellaire police had the car pulled over. According to initial reports, Weaver gave the Bellaire officer his driver’s license, and then took off in his car.
West University police and Bellaire police chased the vehicle southbound on Academy. Weaver lost control of his car at Academy and Merrick, and his car went through a fence of a residence. Weaver was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, with possible shoulder injuries.
“Fortunately, no one was killed or seriously injured,” said Bellaire Assistant Chief Byron Holloway.
Charges of evading arrest are pending as the investigation is completed.
