Busy Crime Weekend: Resident Helps Prevent Burglaries on Sunset
At 8:06 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 6500 block of Buffalo Speedway for failing to dim high beams. A check of the driver revealed two open warrants in SETCIC through the City of West University Place. The driver was arrested on the strength of the warrants.
At 9:30 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 6600 block of Belmont in regard to a suspicious vehicle. Upon arriving, a man was located inside a dark vehicle which was not running and was legally parked in front of a vacant home. The subject advised that he had been drinking and was just letting the time pass by. The individual was subsequently arrested for public intoxication.
At 10:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Sunset in reference to a suspicious person. Officers arrived and observed the suspect throwing a landscape brick at the driver window of a vehicle parked in a residential driveway. Officers took the suspect into custody. The complainant also stated that the suspect opened their front door and started to enter their residence without their effective consent. The suspect was arrested and charged with criminal trespass and attempted burglary of a motor vehicle.
At 11:05 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 4000 block of Bissonnet for numerous traffic violations. During the course of the stop, it was discovered the driver had three open warrants with the City of West University Place. The driver was arrested on the strength of the warrants.
At 7:00 a.m., a West University Place police officer was dispatched to the Houston Police Department to obtain custody of a subject who had outstanding warrants with West University Place. Upon arriving, the subject was taken into custody and transported back to the West University Place Police Department without incident.
At 5:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 4100 block of Amherst in reference to an assault. Officers arrived and met with the victim who stated that she was assaulted by her husband’s ex-wife. Officers gathered information to generate a report.
Driving While Intoxicated
At 9:50 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 4000 block of Bellaire for a report of a minor accident and possible DWI. The officer arrived on-scene and spoke with an off duty constable who stated that a male subject had returned to the scene after striking a parked vehicle in front of Chase Bank. A field sobriety test was conducted on the subject and he was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The subject was transported and booked into the West University Place jail without incident.
At 3:13 p.m., an officer observed a green 4-door pickup truck stop on the crosswalk in the 2600 block of University, eastbound, while waiting for the traffic signal. A traffic stop was conducted in the 6200 block of Kirby and after further investigation a small amount of marijuana was located. The marijuana was seized for destruction and the driver was released on scene.
