Busy Crime Weekend: Drunk Driver Found with Machete in West U Parking Lot
Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon
At 3:44 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle parked with its lights on in a bank parking lot, 4000 Bellaire, after hours. Upon approach to the vehicle the officer observed the driver to be slumped over in the seat passed out. The officer also observed a machete in plain view on the driver’s side floor board. The officer woke the driver up, and through investigation it was discovered the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested and charges with unlawful carrying of a weapon.
An officer was dispatched to the WUPD, in reference to a theft case. The complainant stated his wallet was stolen while on a construction site located on the block of 3900 Tennyson.
Minor Accident/Failure to Stop and Give Information
An officer was dispatched to the 6600 block of Rutgers in reference to a minor accident (failure to stop and give information) that had already occurred. The victim stated her vehicle was struck by an unknown vehicle while legally parked on the side of the roadway and left the scene without leaving any information.
An officer was dispatched to colonial park located at 4130 Byron for a report of a theft. Upon arrival the officer spoke to the reportee who stated that an unknown person(s) stole her daughter’s manual scooter. The reportee stated that she placed the scooter next to the fence located in the playground area on 02/15/2013, and left the area momentarily. The reportee returned to the fence where she had placed the scooter on 02/15/2013, and noticed that the scooter was missing. The officer was unable to locate the scooter nor was he able to locate any witnesses during this investigation.
Driving While Intoxicated
At 1:51 am officer went to back up another officer on a traffic stop in the 3700 block of University Blvd. when the officer arrived he was informed that the driver could not be woken up, and after further investigation the driver was later arrested for driving while intoxicated.
At 2:58 a.m., an officer was patrolling the 2600 block of Robinhood when the officer observed a vehicle legally parked on the side of the roadway with a male driver slumped over in the driver’s seat. The officer approached the vehicle and noticed the driver to be unconscious. Upon awakening the driver, it was discovered the driver was intoxicated. The driver was subsequently arrested for public intoxication.
Driving While License Suspended
At 8:38 am, an officer observed a red passenger vehicle traveling northbound in the 6700 block of Buffalo Speedway with an expired inspection certificate. A traffic stop was conducted in the 3100 block of Pittsburg and after further investigation the driver was arrested for the offense of driving while license invalid.
Burglary of Motor Vehicle
An officer was dispatched to the 6100 block of Lake in reference to a burglary of a motor vehicle. An unknown person(s) removed a bicycle from the bed of a truck without the consent of the owner. The incident occurred sometime between 10:30pm hours on Saturday, February 16 and 7:00am.
