Busy Crime Weekend: Burglars Break into West U Business, Vehicles
At 11:13 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 3600 block of Plumb for a report of a theft. On arrival, the victim reported that on 1-09-13 she last saw her computer in her living room at or about 6:30 am. At about 7:00 pm, the victim reported that the computer was no longer found in the residence.
At 4:35 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 6700 block of Stella Link for faulty brake lights. During the course of the traffic stop, it was discovered the driver had no driver’s license. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license.
At 8:00 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle with a defective headlamp traveling southbound in the 6400 block of Buffalo Speedway. A traffic stop was initiated in the 6800 block of Buffalo. After further investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of multiple stolen items and was subsequently arrested for theft.
At 3:17 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 3100 block of Jarrard on a vehicle with expired temporary license plates. During the course of the traffic stop, it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle had an invalid driver’s license, no valid insurance for the vehicle, and the vehicle was not registered. The driver was arrested for the traffic offenses. The passenger was discovered to have open warrants with Houston and Harris County Precinct 5, and was arrested and held on those open warrants.
At 03:33 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 6300 block of Buffalo Speedway in reference to a disturbance in progress. Officers arrived and found two persons walking on the sidewalk who stated that they had an argument with a cab driver. Officers collected information to generate a report.
At 4:02 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 2900 block of Sunset for a report of criminal mischief. On arrival, the officer met with the victim who said that between 10:00 p.m. on 1-12-13 and 4:00 p.m. on 1-13-13, unknown persons caused damage to the rear passenger side door of her vehicle, which was parked in front of her residence on the street.
Burglary of a Motor Vehicle
At 10:09 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Dartmouth in reference to a burglary of a motor vehicle. Officers arrived and met with the victim who stated that sometime between 8:00 p.m. on 1/12/13 and 11:00 a.m. on 1/13/13 unknown suspect(s) attempted to steal her vehicle parked in the roadway in front of her residence. Officers collected evidence for further processing and completed an attempted auto theft report.
At 2:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 5300 block of Kirby Dr. in regards to a burglary of a business. Upon arrival, officers checked the business and surrounding area for suspect(s) but none were located. It was discovered that an unknown person(s) forced entry to a side window, allowing access to the business. No items were determined stolen.
