Boehme Files, But Not For Mayor
George Boehme has filed for West U’s May 9 election, but filed for a council position rather than mayor. Boehme previously announced that he was considering a run for current mayor Bob Kelly’s position. Kelly has announced he will run for a second term.
Three other candidates have officially filed for West U. City Council. Steven Segal, and current councilmen Bob Fry and Chuck Guffey have all filed for at-large council positions. Every position is up for grabs, and all council members excluding Phyllis Cohen are eligible to run again. Councilman Michael Talianchich has picked up a candidate packet but indicated earlier that he was not sure he would run for a second term. Local sources say Talianchich may be considering a run for mayor.
Residents Sunny Brandtner and Phillip Bryant have also picked up packets, but not filed.
The General Election will be held on May 9. Voters will vote for mayor and four council members to serve a two-year term of office. Each position is at-large.
The filing deadline is 5 p.m. on March 9. Applications and accompanying documents may be obtained from the city secretary’s office in the Municipal Building, 3800 University Blvd.
April 9 is the last day for submitting voter registration applications in time to vote in this election or for requesting transfer of registration in time to vote in a new precinct.
