Blood Drive to Help Woman Facing Life Threatening Surgery
West U residents are encouraged to donate blood on Monday to help a Michigan woman who is facing a life threatening surgery.
The blood drive will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church, 4600 Bellaire Blvd., on Monday, Sept. 26 from 3-8 p.m.
The donations will help Katie Uren, a newly married nurse from Iron Mountain, Mich., who has a tumor at the base of her spine. The surgery requires a 23-hour surgery and 45 units of blood to remove.
Uren’s blood type is O negative, but MD Anderson will be accepting all blood types and credit will be given for all donations.
To schedule an appointment for Monday, call Wendy Bantle at 713-665-0550 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Blood can also be donated directly at the MD Anderson Blood Bank. To schedule an appointment, call 713-792-7777. Uren’s patient identification number is 794113.
