Benefit Helps Pershing Middle School Bring Back The Music

May 17, 2010

Cox Media Group’s Houston Radio Stations 107.5 The Eagle and 106.9 The Point are joining forces with local bands, to rock the night in support of Pershing Middle School.

The benefit, scheduled for May 17 at Houston’s The House of Blues, will raise money for Pershing’s band to help them replace instruments lost in a recent accident.

Last Sunday, 25 Pershing students and seven chaperones were returning to Houston from Walt Disney World in Florida, where the school’s band had competed and won first place in a national band competition, when one of their buses caught fire. No one was injured, but the students lost all of their band equipment and many personal belongings.

“It was such a miracle that no one was injured in this accident, and 107.5 The Eagle and 106.9 The Point are thrilled to partner with The House of Blues to help Pershing raise money to replace their lost equipment,” said Mark Krieschen, V.P/ General Manager for the Cox Radio stations.  “We are committed to the Houston community and want to help bring back the music for these talented kids.”

Tickets are $20 at the door, and proceeds go to benefit The Pershing PTO to help them replace the lost instruments.
