Bayou Bend And Reinzi Gardens To Feature First Spring House And Garden Days Event
The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s Bayou Bend and Rienzi estates will hold their first Spring House and Garden Days event March 12-15. The event includes a series of programs, activities and performances showcasing the gardens of both house museums.
The homes will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 1-6 p.m. Sunday. Thursday and Friday feature adult programming; Saturday and Sunday offer both adult and family-friendly activities and entertainment.
Educational lectures, demonstrations, and workshops on topics ranging from landscaping, cultivation, organic gardening, pruning, and planting will be offered. Over the course of the weekend, area organizations such as the Houston Arboretum, the Houston Zoo, Treesearch Farms, the Antique Rose Society, the Houston Beekeepers Association, and the Wildlife Rehab and Education Center will join us to offer programs in their particular area of expertise.
In addition, Bart Brechter, the Curator of the Bayou Bend Gardens will be on hand to present programs on azaleas, camellias, and turf care. Children’s programs include puppetry, crafts, and dance performances on Saturday and Sunday. Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens is located at 1 Westcott Street. Rienzi is located at 1406 Kirby Drive.
