Angela Grant has joined InstantNewsWestU as primary correspondent covering the West University Place beat.

Grant will be responsible for covering such local news as city council, police, schools and community events.

John Pape, editorial director for Neighborhood Media, InstantNewsWestU’s parent company, called Grant “uniquely qualified” to bring an added dimension to covering West U news.

“Angela Grant has solid journalistic skills, as well as excellent multimedia expertise in gathering local news.  We believe she will take InstantNewsWestU to new levels of excellence,” Pape said.

Prior to coming to InstantNewsWestU, Grant worked as a multimedia producer for the San Antonio Express-News. She also served as a correspondent for the Associated Press, Agence France-Presse and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Additionally, she has worked at News 8 Austin and the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

Grant is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, holding both a Bachelor of Arts in government and a Bachelor of Journalism, with multimedia concentration. She was named a distinguished scholar in the UT-Austin Colleges of Communication and Liberal Arts.

Grant twice won awards in the National Press Photographers Association monthly multimedia contest, as well as an honorable mention in the NPPA Best of Photojournalism competition.
