A Weekend of Texas Contemporary Dance Returns To Miller Outdoor Theatre
Houston’s free dance festival, A Weekend of Texas Contemporary Dance, returns to the Miller Outdoor Theatre stage Sept. 25 and Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. with a program presenting work by Houston choreographers and dancers. Presented by Dance Source and organized by Founder and President Christina Giannelli, the dance festival showcases a wide range of contemporary choreographic styles set to an eclectic mix of live and recorded music.
The annual weekend includes a special family matinee, Dance Around the World, on Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. at Miller Outdoor Theatre. Admission to A Weekend of Texas Contemporary Dance and Dance Around the World is free. All seating is available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Free tickets for the evening performances will be available at Miller Outdoor Theatre Box Office on the day of the show from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and again at 7 p.m. Listening devices for the hearing impaired are available at the Miller Theatre Box Office one hour prior to curtain.
The curatorial committee for A Weekend of Texas Contemporary Dance includes Dance Source Founder and President Christina Giannelli; Joanna Frieson, Dance Educator, former Houston Ballet Soloist Jeanne Doornbos Maher, and noted independent choreographer Leslie Skates.
