600 Campers Registered For Fathers & Flashlights

September 30, 2008

Fathers & Flashlights, the second annual ‘urban campout’ for West University fathers and children, is sold out. Organizers are expecting 600 campers, 200 more than attended last year. The campout will be held Saturday, Oct. 4 – Sunday, Oct. 5, at the West U. Little League and Tri-Sports fields, adjacent to West U Elementary.

Campers on the waiting list will be contacted if space is available. Campers will enjoy a smorgasbord of activities that include arts and crafts, outdoor games, rock wall, moonwalk, music and a buffet dinner. As night falls, families will gather for S’mores and campfire songs, flashlight games, and a nighttime bug hunt. The event concludes with an early breakfast the following morning.

Check-in runs from 3 – 4 p.m. on Oct. 4 along University Boulevard, at which time tents may be set-up in designated 14’x14’ plots. Activities are scheduled to begin after 3 p.m.
