Identity Theft Times Three

Identity Fraud
At 7:34 pm, an officer took a report of identity theft in the 2700 block of Wroxton. The victim advised that she discovered her name is possibly being used as the owner of a residential property located in the state of Maryland. The victim said she does not own this property nor knows how her name became associated with it.

Debit Card Scam
At 12:22 pm, a police officer was dispatched to 3800 University, in reference to an identity theft, which had already occurred. The victim stated an unknown person(s) used her debit card information to purchase items from a grocery store in New Jersey.

Credit Card Scam
At 10:46 pm, an officer was dispatched to the West University Place Police Department in regards to an incident of fraud that already occurred. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an unknown subject(s) fraudulently accessed and charged the victims’ credit card information at a retail establishment in Missouri City, Texas.

Driving While License Suspended
At 2:02 pm, an officer observed a vehicle traveling in the 6500 block of Buffalo Speedway with an obscured and expired temporary registration tag. A traffic stop was conducted in the 7700 block of Buffalo Speedway and after further investigation the driver was arrested for driving while license invalid.

Suspected Swindler Jailed 
Officers were dispatched to a business in the 5800 block of Kirby in reference to harassing customers. While checking the area for the vehicle, an officer was flagged down by a citizen who advised that subjects in vehicle flagged her down indicating that her tire was flat and when she stopped she felt as if they were attempting to scam her because her tire was not flat. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle described. While checking the area for the vehicle, dispatch received a similar 9-1-1 call from the Randall’s parking lot in Houston at Weslayan and Bissonnet where subjects in a vehicle were asking for money. While responding to the area an officer observed the same vehicle as earlier and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver was cited and released for multiple traffic violations. Two passengers were identified and released no charges. One passenger was taken into custody for a Felony warrant out of Louisiana.
