Crime Reports

Several women’s handbags — valued at approximately $125,000 — were stolen during a home burglary Thursday in West University Place.

The burglary, in the 2800 block of Tangley, was reported to West U police at 9:36 p.m. Thursday. An officer who went to investigate found forced entry into the home from the rear entrance.

Maura Leon Barber, Communications Manager for the city of West University Place, confirmed that a helicopter from the Houston Police Department assisted West U police in their search for a suspect or suspects. They did not locate any suspicious persons.

West U police are investigating, and remind local residents to use burglar alarms, lock all doors and windows, keep shrubbery near windows and doors trimmed, and be careful about the use of social media, especially with regard to valuables in the home.

New accounts indicated the owner of the bags advertised the bags and where they were on social media. This was the 2nd such theft in West U. Not the brightest bulbs . . . . .
