WEST U CRIME: 5 Burglaries, Theft, Fraud, Hit and Run

01/03/2014
Burglary of motor vehicle
An officer was dispatched to the business establishment of the Marquis ii located at 2631 Bissonnet in regards to a burglary of a motor vehicle. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the victim who stated that he parked his vehicle in the parking lot area on 01/03/2014, at 4:10PM. On 01/03/2014, at 4:20PM, he was notified by the manager that one of the windows to his vehicle was smashed. The victim discovered that his black work bag which was inside the vehicle was taken without his consent.

01/04/2014
Burglary of motor vehicle
At 2:23 pm, an officer was dispatched to the 3300 block of Amherst in reference to a burglary of a motor vehicle that had already occurred. Upon the officer’s arrival, the complainant stated an unknown subject entered his unsecured pickup truck and removed a bank envelope containing money without his consent.

Burglary of motor vehicle
An officer was dispatched to the 5300 block of Mercer in reference to a burglary of a motor vehicle. The officer arrived and met with the victim who stated that an unknown suspect(s) broke his car window and removed personal items without his effective consent. The officer collected evidence and generated a report.

Burglary of motor vehicle
An officer was dispatched to the 5300 block of Mercer in reference to a burglary of a motor vehicle. While conducting a separate investigation the officer met with another victim who stated that unknown suspect(s) attempted to gain entry into his vehicle without his effective consent by breaking the driver door key lock with a metal instrument but was unsuccessful. The officer collected information and generated a report.

Burglary of motor vehicle
An officer, was dispatched to 5300 Sewanee in reference to a lapsed burglary of motor vehicle. Upon arrival the complainant reported that someone had broken the window to his vehicle to gain entry. However, at this time the owner was unable to identify any missing items.

Theft
At 8:57 pm, an officer was dispatched to Crave Cupcake, 5600 Kirby, in regards to a theft that already occurred. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an unknown person(s) entered the employee office and removed items without the owners’ consent.

01/05/2014
Fraud
At 2:12 pm, a police officer was dispatched to the 2900 block of Rice in reference to fraudulent activity, where the victims’ personal information was used by an unknown person(s) to open several credit accounts.

Minor Accident / Failure to stop & give information
An officer was dispatched to the 2700 block of Talbot in regards to a minor accident / failure to stop and giver information. Upon arrival the officer spoke to the reportee who stated that an unknown person(s) struck his vehicle causing damage to his driver side mirror. The reportee stated that he legally parked his vehicle on the roadway on 01/05/2014, and left the area momentarily. On 01/05/2014, he was later notified by one of his relatives that there was damage to his vehicle. No witnesses were located during the time of this investigation.

Minor Accident / Failure to stop & give information
It was reported that on December 16, 2013 the victim returned to his residence located in the 3600 block of Sunset Blvd and observed minor damage to his front bumper and driver door. Officers were unable to determine the location of the incident.
