Crime Report: Police Question Two Burglary Suspects

Traffic Violations

An officer was traveling west bound in the 2700 block of Sunset, the officer observed a vehicle traveling east bound with the passenger seated directly behind the driver. The officer turned around and observed the vehicle conduct a right turn south bound in to the 5400 block of Kirby, without signaling 100ft before his intent to turn. In the attempt to catch the vehicle, the officer observed a back pack in the middle of the south bound lane in the 5400 block of Kirby. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle in 6300 block of Kirby. The officer made contact with the driver and passenger. The officer discovered the passenger did not have valid driver’s license. The driver was subsequently arrest for the offense of operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and failing to signal 100ft prior to the intent to turn. While the driver was in custody he stated the back pack was in their possession before it was observed by the officer in the roadway. The passenger was placed on a 72 hours investigative hold due to observations, statements of the driver and recent criminal activity in the area. Given the details of the situation, the manner in which the back pack had been thrown out of the vehicle, it appears as though the two subjects were in the area burglarizing the area.

Theft

At 2:57 pm, an officer was dispatched to the St. Mark’s Episcopal School located at 3816 Bellaire Blvd in reference to a theft that had already occurred. Upon the officer’s arrival, the reportee stated an unknown person(s) removed an apple iPad 2 from inside one of the classroom closets.

Warrant Arrest

An officer was dispatched to meet with a Hedwig Village Police Officer who detained a subject with outstanding warrants from the City of West U. The warrants were confirmed and a West U police office took custody of the subject, who was then transported to the WUPD without incident.

Possession of Narcotics

At 3:42 a.m., an officer observed a suspicious vehicle stop, turn off all lights in the middle of the 4200 block of Swarthmore. The officer then observed a person come from a residence and get into the vehicle. The vehicle then turns on the lights and began to travel east bound. Due to the suspicious activity displayed, a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. Upon contact with the occupants and through investigation it was discovered the driver was in possession of a control substance and the passenger was in possession of marijuana. Both subjects were taking into custody without incident.

Found Property

At 10:26 am, an officer was dispatched to St. Andrews Presbyterian church located at 5308 Buffalo Speedway in reference a report of found property. The reportee stated he and his brother located a broken cash drawer containing cash inside on the rear of the church property.

Traffic Violations

At 10:05 am, an officer observed a vehicle near the 6000 block of Buffalo Speedway traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. Upon contact the driver stated he had drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and contraband seized. The driver was cited for speeding 38/30, no Texas drivers license, and possession of drug paraphernalia and released from the scene.

Police Information Report

An officer was dispatched to the 2700 block of Bissonnet in reference to a disturbance in progress. Dispatch advised, via radio, Houston Police Department needs an officer to check by. The two shop owners were arguing which escalated to a physical altercation. The two shop owners were told to stay away from each other. No charges have been filed.

Warrant Arrest

At 2:53 pm, an officer was dispatched to the Bass Pro shops parking lot on the north west corner of Hwy 288 and the Harris County Toll Road to meet a Brazoria County Deputy who had a suspect in custody with outstanding warrants with the City of West U. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the WUPD without incident.

Assault/Simple

An officer was dispatched to the 2900 block of Jarrard for an assault that just occurred. Subject was arrested and transported to the WUPD.

Driving while intoxicated

At 11:36 pm, an officer was working stationary radar in the 4100 block of Bissonnet when the officer observed a SUV traveling at 47mph in a posted 35 mph zone. The officer got behind the vehicle in the 4500 block of Bissonnet and observed the traffic light to be red at Bissonnet and Avenue B. the driver of the vehicle slowed down and then continued through the red light. The officer activated the emergency lights and stopped the vehicle in the 4600 block of Bissonnet. The suspect was detained for the suspicion of driving while intoxicated and with inconclusive results the driver was released with a speeding citation.

Warrant Arrest

An officer was dispatched to the Harris County Jail facility located at 1201 Commerce to pick up a subject who had warrants out of the City of West U. Upon arrival the officer took care and custody of the male subject and later transported him to the WUPD where he was booked and processed without incident.

Warrant Arrest

An officer was dispatched to meet a Memorial Village Police Officer to pick up a subject that has outstanding warrants with the City of West U. The subject was transported to the WUPD for booking.

Driving while license suspended

At 7:35 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling northbound with expired temporary tag in the 5500 block of Buffalo Speedway. The officer initiated a traffic stop in the 3100 block of WestPark on the vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the driver was driving on a suspended license without insurance. The driver was arrested and charged with the offense of driving while license invalid.
