Houston Express Soccer Club has been selected as a Nike Premier Club, a designation available to no more than 100 clubs across the United States. HESC has a four-year agreement that will make Nike the exclusive athletic apparel and footwear provider for HESC.
“Nike is a powerhouse sports branding leader and a marketing innovator on a global scale. Our partnership with Nike will continue to drive HESC’s evolution for years to come,” said Adrian Crespo, VP – Express and leader of HESC’s competitive programs.
“As a Nike Premier Club, HESC will have access to Nike’s vast resources such as Nike ID camps, coaching support and education for our staff,” said Mark Gibbs, HESC’s Director of Coaching. “In addition, the Club’s top teams will have preferred access to, the top youth soccer tournaments in the United States, including, among others, the prestigious Surf Cup in San Diego, California, and the Dallas Cup,” added Gibbs, These tournaments will give the Club’s top athletes exposure to the premier collegiate soccer programs in the country.”
With this designation, HESC is joining a very select group of Texas-based clubs – the Texans, based in Dallas and the Lonestar based in Austin, are the only other Nike Premier Clubs in the State. Houston Express Soccer Club will be the only Nike Premier Club in Houston.
Nike’s relationships on the international scene include: the United States national team, and national teams from the Netherlands, Brazil, and France. On the club level, FC Barcelona, Juventus, Inter Milan, Club America, Boca Juniors, Arsenal and reigning Taça Libertadores champion Corinthians all wear Nike.
“The Nike partnership is transformational for Houston Express Soccer Club and its athletes. Our alliance with Nike reflects the Club’s commitment to provide our young athletes with the best resources as they work to maximize their potential, as athletes and as citizens,” Bob Corrigan, the President of HESC said. “Over the last few years, the Club has doubled in size; our teams are now routinely winning State titles; and this past summer our top under 16 ladies team made it all the way to the national championship game, a first for our club. Our objective is to bring a national championship back to Houston; our athletes will be wearing Nike uniforms when they do so.”
“Ultimately, the goal of HESC is to be unique. From a marketing standpoint, all of the soccer clubs look the same. Most clubs have the same color schemes and there is too much overlap in uniform styles. Being unique is extremely important to us and our athletes will be extremely excited when they see the customized state of the art uniforms Nike is putting together for us,” said Kelly Provenzano, HESC’s Uniform Coordinator.
The Club will compete in Nike apparel beginning with the fall, 2013 playing season.
