Local News

The City of West U removed a fallen tree limb from the 3900 block of Rice on Wednesday.

A rental moving truck was driving down Rice Boulevard around 3 p.m. when it struck a low hanging tree limb.

The tree limb fell onto the moving truck, but no one was injured, Assistant Public Works Director Dave Beach said.

City staff worked to cut the tree limb and remove it. The 3900 block of Rice was closed off while the tree was being removed.

West U needs to review heights and obstructions all around the city. Too many bushes and trees have grown into the sidewalk, over signs, and into other “prohibited” areas. From the looks of the photo, that branch should have never been there or the truck is too large to be in the city.
