‘Take a Walk in the Park’ during Park Lovers’ Ball 2012
The Friends of West University Place Parks Fund, Inc. is kicking its charitable efforts into high gear with plans for its 21st annual Park Lovers’ Ball, themed “A Walk in the Park.”
The event will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Houston on Feb. 11. Guests will enjoy live and silent auctions, delectable food and dancing to the lively tunes of Password.
The ball is Friends’ largest annual fundraising initiative to support the renovation, expansion, development and improvement of parks and green spaces in the neighborhood parks of West U.
Planning and fundraising is in the works by event co-chairs Courtney and Scott Archer, Anne and John Freeman. This foursome is no stranger to fundraising as they also chaired Fathers & Flashlights in 2009 and 2010 together. The 2012 PLB’s Honorary Chairs are Vicki and Dana Grams, who are both on the Friends advisory board. Vicki served as a Friends board member for many years and co-chaired the PLB in 2007.
“Anne and I volunteered for and attended our first PLB five years ago and were immediately impressed with the organization of Friends and the amazing neighborhood party that it hosted. It is a perfect example of why we love West University Place so much,” Courtney Archer said. “Every year since then we have looked forward to spending a night out with our community and helping to raise much needed money for our beloved parks. We are honored to be chairing the 2012 Park Lovers’ Ball with our husbands and hope that the community will once again support Friends as they do so graciously each and every year.”
Table sales (seat 12) will start at $3,000 and Individual tickets will start at $250. Visit www.westuparks.org or call 713-662-7430 for information on becoming an underwriter, sponsor, or auction donor, or to volunteer.
