‘Movies Houstonians Love’ Film Series Begins Oct. 2 at MFAH
The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston film department is hosting its Movies Houstonians Love film series, starting in October.
The seventh season opens on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 5 p.m., with the remaining evenings in the series set for Mondays at 7 p.m. All films are shown in the Brown Auditorium Theater of the MFAH Caroline Wiess Law Building, 1001 Bissonnet Street.
Past presenters—numbering nearly 40 participants—include such well-known Houstonians as former First Lady Barbara Bush and hip-hop artist Bun B.
The 2011- 2012 season’s line-up consists of gallerist Meredith Long; designer Alexandra Knight; Southwest Alternate Media Project executive director Mary Lampe; Rice University representative Ping Sun; and The Menil Collection director Josef Helfenstein.
The series was developed by the MFAH film committee in order to introduce new audiences to the museum’s year-round film offerings. Notable individuals from diverse niches of the Houston community are invited to choose and present a favorite film, sharing personal anecdotes about their choices in their introductory remarks.
