‘Fathers and Flashlights’ Sold Out, Making Our Parks Even Better
The Friends of West U Parks have sold out one of their most popular fundraising events, Fathers and Flashlights, for the fifth year in a row.
West U families will pitch their tents and camp out on the West U Little League Tri-Sports fields on Oct. 1. The fields are adjacent to West University Elementary School on University Boulevard.
Check-in begins at 3 p.m. on Oct. 1.
Campers will be able to participate in numerous activities including scavenger hunts, fishing, pony rides, a rock wall and putt-putt golf, amongst other things.
As night falls, families will gather for campfire songs and ice cream treats. The event will conclude with an early breakfast the following morning.
This year’s top underwriters for the event are Direct Energy, Russo Services, Inc., Goode Company Taqueria and Oaks, Hartline & Daly, LLP.
Last year’s event raised more than $52,000 for West U parks, which was $15,000 more than the prior year’s event.
Co-chairs of the event are Sara and Chip Edgecomb, Maggie and Dax Garza and Amanda and J.R. McGee.
